Reaction Time Science Presentation

On Wednesday we had a visit from a scientist at the Discovery Museum in Salt Lake.  She told us about the differences between physical changes and chemical reactions.

She mixed Poly A and Poly B together and created foam!  It was definitely a chemical change since it had all 3 indicators: a change in state (liquid to solid), a change in color (dark brown to tan), and a change in energy (gave off heat).  She called him the Foam Gnome and offered it as a prize to the best class!

A Visit from Miss Springville!

Miss Springville/Mapleton came to our class this week to talk to us about the importance of voting.  She was very impressed that our class knew all about the amendments and our responsibilities as citizens.  Go us!

Gingerbread Houses

Throughout December we enjoyed visits from our parents.  They read us Christmas stories and did a craft or shared a treat.  Paige and Andrew's mom did both--after reading Gingerbread Baby we got to make gingerbread houses!  Thanks for the fun time, Mrs. Jensen!

Halloween!

We're a little behind, but we're going to get this blog caught up!  Check out our awesome Halloween costumes!

Mustaches, Pajamas, and Pizza--oh my!

Much the the envy of the whole school, our class had a mustache party.  We finally earned 50 class points, and then decided as a class how to celebrate.  We came up with: mustaches, pajamas, pizza, ice cream, candy and games--quite a party, if you ask me!  It was a great day.

Giraffe: From Caterpillar to Butterfly

We're studying heredity in science, and we cover life cycles.  Meet Giraffe, our monarch caterpillar-turned-butterfly.

We got to see him spin his cocoon and emerge from his cocoon DURING CLASS!

Explorer Ships

We've been studying explorers in social studies, so in art we designed our own caravel ships and glued them onto watercolor seascapes.
